Part 1 of 3, step 1 of 5
The two areas that protect your people: health and safety, and how everyone treats each other.
Every business must look after the health and safety of its workers and visitors, including their psychological health.
What the law says
Work health and safety laws (OHS laws in Victoria) require you to manage risks so far as reasonably practicable, consult workers and notify the regulator of certain serious incidents.
A written policy plus a simple way to report hazards makes the duty easy to follow, and gives you a record.
Clear rules about behaviour, and a safe way to speak up, prevent problems and make them fair to fix.
What the law says
Discrimination and harassment are unlawful, and employers have a positive duty to take reasonable steps to prevent sexual harassment.
Explain what is not acceptable, show how to raise a concern, and train managers to respond consistently.
Code of conduct and leave.
